Small Change to the Buckeye Nine

For those familiar and have been posting comments here already I appreciate it and it adds to the content here.

I'm going to try an experiment and open comments to everyone, so now you do not have to be registered with google/blogger to post.

I can follow the traffic and the amount of people who come to the Buckeye Nine and it surprisingly attracts a nice share of visitors. Hopefully lifting the registered user requirement will open some more activity and engaging between those who follow and support the team.

The change is subject to change back at any time if it doesn't go well, which I doubt. So hey everyone who has wanted to comment but didn't want to go through with the hassle to sign up have it. The Buckeyes are having a special season and everyone should be able to enjoy it. Thanks!

Hey Chris if we win the BTT do you think we have a chance to host the regional?

Right now no. Has we even split at L'Ville yes. L'Ville is the "northern" host right now.

If L'ville goes two and out in the Big East tourney and our BTT includes beating Minny then the odds are in our favor.

Whats not in our favor is teams like Rice struggling. A big part of us hosting as a #2 were teams like TCU who are solid #1's but the NCAA would perfer not to have them host (giving Texas 4 regionals) and teams like Florida State and Eastern Carolina who are coming on strong and making a case to host.

If we beat Minny and win the BTT we host before Minnesota does, especially with our facilities, but there is a lot that isn't in our favor, so right now I say no.

I think if they win it impressively they have a decent shot. The only other non-South/West teams in the running for the token regional are Louisville, BC, and Minnesota. If Minnesota doesn't win, they're out. BC started the season way too sloppy. It would take them winning the ACC tourney to host, which is VERY unlikely. That just leaves Louisville, who is already above the Buckeyes, and who just beat them badly. I'm not sure the selection committee would consider Louisville "token enough." I wouldn't be surprised if they said, well, Louisville was going to be our token guy, but they really aren't North, so we'll just stick with no token northern regional.

That said, looking at how they have done the other playoffs this season (lower level baseball and softball), I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them give a Columbus regional just to lower the traveling cost of the MAC/BigEast/other northern programs. The NCAA looks pretty committed to lowering travel this spring.

Just my thoughts.

BC can't host as I highly doubt they bid for a regional. They don't even try to get a hockey regional and hockey is MUCH bigger up here.

Chris, how about posting your picture, so we'll know who you are when we see you at the ballpark.
Would be nice to see the face behind the name.

Fitt said "Wimmers looks like a top-three type for next year,". Do u (Chris / anyone) believe that is because he thinks alex won't come out this year or he can't (NCAA / MLB agreement?). Did he, or does anyone, have thoughts on Burkhart, Dew or Hurley?
