Ex-Buckeye Nick Swisher Traded to the Yankees

The New York Yankees acquired center fielder-first baseman Nick Swisher in a trade with the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

The Yankees traded infielder Wilson Betemit and minor league pitchers Jeff Marquez and Jhonny Nunez to Chicago in exchange for the switch-hitting Swisher and minor league pitcher Kanekoa Texeira.
Swisher, 27, hit .219 with 24 home runs in 153 games with Chicago this season.

More on the trade..
Swisher Traded

Thoughts? Can Swisher bounce back from an ugly 2008 season and do well in the Bronx? Will his dynamic personality sit fine in the company of Giradi, Jeter, A-Rod? Interesting move, not sure what I think of it yet.

Holy cow!! I can't believe Chicago traded him after one year, it was a terrible year but talk about a short stay in the windy city. I really thought he would do well with the White Sox. He just never really got going at the plate at all. Swish really has to cut down on the strike outs and put the ball in play. It seems like sometimes he tries too hard to hit the long ball every at bat. The good thing i guess is there should be less presure on Swish in NY compared to that in Chicago or Oakland.

The only down side is i just got a nice CWS Swisher jersey for my birthday and i have never been much of a NY Yankees fan at all. I guess this changes that a little. LOL!!

Good luck Nick, hopefully he can get back to his top form from 2006.
