Luebke Set to Join Padres

Former Buckeye Recalled by San Diego


It has long been speculated but the time has officially come. The 2007 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, former Buckeye Cory Luebke is on his way to join the San Diego Padres. Luebke will be the second Buckeye big leaguer joining New York Yankee Nick Swisher.

Hurley Suspended 50 Games, Reacts to Ban

Former Ohio State outfielder (2006-10) Zach Hurley has been suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The suspension which is effective immediately, ends the professional debut season of the former Buckeye captain, a 29th round draft pick of the Oakland Athletics who was playing for the Vancouver Canadians.

Hurley gave myself, Chris Webb, a call this evening to respond to the suspension and to present the facts of what caused the failed drug test.

As mentioned a few weeks back, former Buckeye pitcher and the 2007 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year Cory Luebke was a prospect of heavy interest for those discussing trade talk with the San Diego Padres. As Saturday's MLB trade deadline passed, Luebke was still property of the Padres.
