2012 Scheduling Tidbits

While the final product is far from a reality, a few interesting tidbits have been made public or shared of the Ohio State schedule that can be passed along.

As shared by opposing coach Dan McDonnell the midweek series between Louisville and Ohio State is set to resume after the year hiatus, though the teams did tangle in game two of the season in the Big East-Big Ten Challenge.

The dates with the Cardinals are just two games against consistent NCAA Regional programs fans can expect the Buckeyes to face next season.

In an interview with Frank Fraas who does the play-by-play for Ohio State Big Ten games on 1460 WBNS-AM, Coach Beals made it known that the Buckeyes will complete a series with Oklahoma State by going to Stillwater next season as the Cowboys visit Columbus in two weeks.

Beals also made it known that the Buckeyes will have a home-and-home series with Georgia Tech in 2012 and 2013. Though the dates are unknown, it can be anticipated the Yellow Jackets fell the bye week that will come starting in 2012 with the inclusion of Nebraska in the Big Ten, giving the conference an odd number of teams. In speaking to Big Ten officials, it was learned next season the Big Ten will have a nine-week schedule in which eight games will be played.

Outside of the two announcements by Coach Beals, in speaking to Pitching Coach Mike Stafford, the Buckeyes will travel to Conway, South Carolina next year for a weekend tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina. Stafford also alluded to the Buckeyes play Miami on the road as one game a season on the road against an in-state opponent is desired, as evident by the road game with Ohio that was washed out this past Wednesday.

As more is made available and uncovered of the Buckeyes future schedules it will be announced, though that news is usually reserved for the summer months.
