Along with the 2011 schedule, lat week Ohio State released the 2011 roster that will take the field for Coach Beals in his first season. Throughout the summer the Buckeye Nine was trying very hard to keep track of who was in the incoming class, who might be transferring in, and trying to update those known future Buckeyes.
Late in the summer word started swirling that many more players were to be added in the incoming freshman class via walk-on, as well as a few transfers. This put an end to any plans I wanted on profiling the incoming freshman and transfers until everyone arrived on campus and officially was on the team.
Now that the dust has settled, Ohio State officially welcomes 16 newcomers to the baseball program, some you know, a few you may but were not expected to see in Scarlet & Gray, and a few I'm sure you probably do not know.
Coming later will be additional details on who exactly these new faces are, but for now here are the 16 newest baseball Buckeyes.

A few thoughts:
* Ohio State now has a small army of catchers and pitchers.
* I like that Wetzel, Greve, Dezse are all numbered in a row. These are three of Ohio State's biggest recruiting catches in some time. We can only hope these three compose a pack that takes Ohio State baseball to the next level. (Not to take anything away from any other players in the class, and/or team.)
* Though not listed here, Greve checks in at 6'3, 205 with Dezse at 6'5 200. They may not just be men among boys in the field. Their frames are a big part in why both can reach the mid-90s. Something this program has been missing.
* It was speculated for some time, but Ben Bokor had committed and was head to Miami before a walk-on opportunity was offered here to join his brother Josh.
* Speaking of brothers, very surprised to see Brock Trimbur transfer in from Ohio, leaving his brother Ben in Athens.
* Speaking more about brothers, with Blake joining Brad, and Cory Angelo in the freshman class, Ohio State now has seen five players from Florida join the program the last two seasons.
* While Gahanna replaces Kilbourne as the newest Central Ohio pipeline with the addition of the three Lions, (Trimbur, Bokor, Bokor), a year removed from the Wolves duo of Kovanda and Dew, leaving Strayer as the lone Worthington product.
* Remember that transfers from other Division I institutes must sit out a year so only Solomon and Hutton will be transfers eligible to play in 2011.
* The Buckeye Scout had Trimbur ranked as the 47th best player in Ohio of the HS graduating class of 2009, while Goldberg checked in at 15th.
* Again more will come over the next days, and weeks, as now that we know who will be in the Scarlet & Gray I can really start to work on providing info and background to the names and numbers.

Are transfers that are not eligible to play until 2012 Season?
That leaves 32 on the 2011 roster that was released on 9/17/2010. Isn't 2010-2011 max roster size 30?
I believe the max roster size is still at 35.
Do you know where you saw it was 30? I cannot find anything stating that.
But you are correct, those four are not eligible until the 2012 season.
35 are allowed on the roster with the max of 27 receiving scholarships. The 35 must be determined by Feb.
Sept 27th is nonrecruited walkon tryouts. Do you foresee any of these players making the team?
Can't speak or say anything for sure, that obviously will be for Beals and staff to judge, but I would not be surprised. He told me he would definitely utilize the walk-on and look to bring quality players to the program via that route.
