Alumni
Co-Captain Rolston Returning to Central Ohio

Former Buckeye co-captain Lance Rolston (2000-02) is making a move to return home. According to the Jackson County Times-Journal Rolston who has spent the past three season as the head coach at Jackson High School, will become an assistant coach at Olentangy, with the primary reason being his desire to be close to Ohio State, furthering a chance to one day coach collegiate baseball. Say Rolston “It allows me to be closer to and around Ohio State, and my ultimate goal is to coach at the college level. I still have many contacts at OSU, I’ve been a Buckeye, I am a Buckeye and coaching on the OSU staff would be a dream job.”

Cypret & Hallberg Have Sound Saturdays

Looking to finish their summer seasons on a high note with momentum heading into Autumn practices, sophomore infielders Ryan Cypret and Brad Hallberg hope multi-hit efforts last night spring them to breaking out of a summer-long slump.

Against the Grand Lake Mariners, Cypret went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League action. In Northwoods play, Hallberg collected his first two-hit game of the summer as he went 2-for-3 with a walk in Wisconsin's 2-1 victory over La Crosse

Wimmers Honored Again

As mentioned in June, the two-time Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, Alex Wimmers was named an America Baseball Coaches Association Second-team All-American. With that honor, his latest was nothing more than a formality as the first-round draft pick was named First-team Rawlings All-MidEast Region by the ABCA. It also wasn't reported at the time, but two weeks ago Wimmers was named the College Baseball Foundation's National Pitcher of the Year.

UWeekly Speaks with Coach Beals

In their latest issue, the Ohio State weekly publication has an interview with Coach Beals which you can read here. Says Beals "I'm really not looking at it as short-term thing. I'm thinking big picture. Recruiting is big part of getting the program back to the tradition that it's used to."
