Wimmers Capture's Sixth Career Pitcher of the Week Honor

You know how in Golf it is Tiger vs. the Field?

Well when it comes to Big Ten Pitcher of the Week awards it's starting to be Wimmers vs. the Field.

After his 14-strikeout complete game on Friday, moving him to 7-0 on the year, a mark matched only by 2007 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year Cory Luebke, Wimmers picks up his second Big Ten PiOW award of the season, his sixth over the last year+. The award also happens to be Ohio State's sixth weekly honor of 2010.

From the Big Ten

Alex Wimmers, Ohio State
Jr., RHP, Cincinnati, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller
Wimmers tossed a complete game in Ohio State’s 7-1 win over Indiana on Friday, allowing just one run on six hits and no walks. The right-hander also struck out 14 batters, which ties for the most by a Big Ten pitcher this season and is the highest total by a Big Ten pitcher in a conference game this year. The strikeout total was one shy of his career high and marked the ninth time in 23 career starts that he has fanned 10 or more batters. With the victory, Wimmers improved his season record to 7-0, which is the best mark in the Big Ten and among the best in NCAA Division I. The weekly honor is the sixth of his career and his second this season.

I sure wish i could go up to East Lansing this weekend to see Wimmers throw against MSU. I just can't get out of work though. Imagine that. A huge series for sure, taking 2-3 is a must and a sweep would be awesome. Nice time for the team to have some time off with no Wed. game this week.

Go Bucks!!
