Game 1
Ohio State 5
Louisville 21
Here is the OSU Athletics release if for whatever you're that interested in refreshing your mind in last night's blunder. I personally will not, but credit to the Cardinals players for teeing off on what is without quesiton our biggest issue, and doing what good teams have been doin all season. Or bad teams for 4 innings if you're Ball State.

This sucks we are getting our butts kicked and we really need to at least split this series. In the 1st 2 innings tonight we have left 5 guys on base. This is a horrible trend that keeps coming up at horrible times this season.
A few players/changes need to be made. If only temporarily just to see what will happen. Griff deserves some playing time, especially with the slumping Hurley and Arp. Heck Dew can play first if needed. The decision to red-shirt DeLucia is also hurting us as Gus, God love him, isn't coming out of his slump any time soon it appears.
Even with the changes, it won't matter if the line-up isn't assembled properly.
Yes i agree Hurley and Miller are struggling real bad. They are both trying too hard in pressure spots for sure. I would love to see those changes too but nothing will change with BT. We are really screwing up these big games with poor AB's with RISP. The 2 out hits have been far and few bewteen also.
Dew with a leadoff double to start the 4th. Gets stranded.
Why did Todd not tell Arp to bunt? He tells Stephens to bunt, which a 3-hole hitter should not be doing, but he refused to get Dew to third with 1 out? On average when a runner is on second with 0 outs a run will be scored 69% of the time.
The Burkhart injury really makes me mad,he should not have even been bunting. If Dan can not play this weekend we are in BIG trouble vs ILL. I am glad i did not make the trip down,i was thinking about it.
17-0 and it is the 5th inning. Holy cow, i did not see this coming to be honest.I though we might lose but not like this. Oh lord.
I'm embarassed.
Yes ... we beat Miami, we've been ranked and considered for a regional. On the other side we get pounded tonight. Everyone (including me!!!) calm down. We are not as bad as we fared tonight BUT I hope that it does put things into perspective as to where we are on a national stage (i.e. not there). Lets (I mean lets hope the Bucks) get all the 'national' dreams out of their heads and focus on the Big 10. I don't know how Ill. is doing it this year as, at least statistically, their pitching does not look that great. Chris, agreed on needing changes; but I don't think Griff is the answer vs. Arp / Hurley. But what about Rupert for the slumping Gus; perhaps Gus w/b more comfortable overall at 1st?
The problem, good or bad, is that on a national level we can compete... with Wimmers. Maybe with Wolo and Best, absolutely not with any other starting pitchers.
I try to do my best to give you guys the news as it comes out, and given our success, others, not I, have labeled OSU as a Regional Host. I honestly do not know enough to make a decision and compare uf to other teams, I simply post what is out there.
I actually today just sent Eric Sorenson of College Baseball Today, and he will be the next "Buckeye 9 in the 9-Hole" with, and he can give us a better indication of the team and where we stand as he covers college baseball nationally.
That will be up Thursday, with the L'Ville game 2 content.
To this game... this is more embarassing than giving up 20 to Ball State in 4 innings. In that game, 16 of the runs came off pitchers who Todd will not send out come Tourney. Rucinski had a bad outing, which he has had a few lately, but other than that, not a big deal.
This, we're getting pounded from inning 1 against a quality team and our bats gave us nothing.
This basically say if we have to fight our way out of the losers bracket in a tournament, Big Ten or NCAA it might get ugly.
Griff might not be the answer, but somehow in his limited playing time he seems to be a hassle to opposing pitchers, and though defense isn't an issue in our OF, he is solid with the glove.
Not saying he should be an everyday OF, but the other guys are struggling right now.
21-0.........what can ya say? Good old fashioned ass-kicking. Pray for rain tomorrow in L-ville.
I'm pretty sure Strayer and Minium like to play a game of one-upping each other when they get the ball.
Anybody know the pitching match-up for tomorrow?
Knowing Todd he'll probably trout of Wimmers and throw him Sunday.
I pray not, but don't be surprised to see something ridiculous like that.
My money is on Wolosiansky.
Three TDs - 0. Gawd....
Hey we scored a run.
hold on....Bucks are making a game of it now.....
Kicked a Field Goal.
I'm thinking BT throws Best tomorrow.
I'd perfer Wimmers over Best.
Unless Best's health has dramatically improved from Saturday, it'll do more harm than good.
Eric is a pitcher with a lot of potential that is being killed by the frequency of him pitching.
Best was sick over the weekend, and wasn't even in the dugout during Wimmer's no-no. He should not have thrown Sunday, rested, then if he is better pitch today, then Sunday. But no.
You can't throw him, though I wouldn't be shocked after his load Sunday, his load throughout the season, and when he is physically ill.
Chris....you don't really think BT would be dumb enough to throw AW tomorrow........right?
If Wimmers throws tomorrow BT has really lost his mind. My bet is Wolo, but who knows?
BB33......throw Wolo tomorrow........what is our weekend rotation? We need at least 2 outta 3 v. Illini.
21-5 final...nice come back...
I have the slightest idea what goes through BT's head. I often wonder but I never know with any certainty.
Will he throw Wimmers? Of course not. Would I take Wimmers over Best though? Yes. Nothing against Eric at all, he just needs rest before he becomes a Lewis, Selhorst, DeLucia, Barerra.. get the drift? Eric deserves better.
I said my money is on Wolo.
Throw Wolo Wednesday bump him back to Sunday. Heck he threw Wolo against Kent State and didn't even try to get him an extra day of rest. Though I believe that was Purdue weekend and with the Sunday game being played Satuday it was moot.
It's still raining in Louisville!
If they play, I think BT will start Ross Oltorik...surprised nobody mentioned him.
Looks like you were right, EDavis! Unfortunately he is getting rocked early.....
Big 5th inning for the Bucks. Homers by Hurley & Stephens make it Louisville 7, Bucks 4.
We've had more runners thrown out at home this year than the last 39 combined. Why.
Stephens is probably the most underappreciated Buckeye.
Yes he isn't a 3-hole hitter, but the guy is getting it done.
Chris --- Well said on Best re: his health status this weekend and the fact that he is not in the role that he can be effective in. Why start Burkhart today? Let's say he is 90%. The upside to playing him is .... what!? Even if we could compete with him in the line-up (hindsight shows we can't ... we are off to another rousing start); he certainly has seen enopugh live pitching this year that he doesn't need 3-4 abs today to be ready for Fri. I know he has young knees but what's the plus to have him squat and up 100 times on a bruised one ?? And please (not directed at you Chris ... its a general comment) ; stow the 'Well ... we need the RPI that a win vs. Lvlle will give for an at large selection' Put everything toward beating Ill. I'd consider resting Dan, start Chris G and Rupe, Give Dew some work in the OF and give some abs to Toussant at DH
