Rucinski Named Big Co-Pitcher of the Week

Rucinski, from Tulsa Union H.S., picked up the save against Notre Dame and the win vs. Cincinnati by pitching a combined 6.1 innings in the two tense games without allowing a run. Rucinski allowed just three hits, struck out six, walked one and allowed opposing batters to hit just .143 in the two games.

Nice start for the season. Don't want to read a lot into 3 games but good to see the strong pitching and Dew getting off to a good start. Engle still not ready? I know that he at least DH'd in the S & G series. Hope they are just taking it slow on his rehab. Would be nice to have him availble although it looks like Cory and Brian held up the left side of the infield very well.

Engle did not play due to a Hamstring injury.

Have to love that only 1 error was committed this weekend. Impressive for being outside just 1 day I believe before taking the field to start the season.

I agree great weekend for the Bucks but it is only 3 games in. Nice to see the good pitching from the guys, i really think it will be our strong point in '09. I would like to see the coach's give the green light on the bases's as far as stealing some bags. We had 1 SB from Hurley and Stephens got thrown out vs.Cinny. I really think this team has decent speed. Maybe BT does not want to run as much, i don't know.

Would like to see what some of the other pitchers can do this coming weekend. Kinda want to see what Shinn,Oltorik,Barrera and Minium look like this yr. I like the way the pen was used this weekend and hopefully BT will find a couple of setup guys and get them ready for that role in the Big 10 season.

On the website it says
Sun. v UConn - RHP R. Oltorik (0-0; 0.00) vs. LHP Greg Nappo (1-0; 0.00)

It will be nice seeing Oltorik get some playing time this weekend.
