Senior Justin Miller name to 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Watch List

The College Baseball Foundation is proud to announce its partnership with Mizuno to bring you the pre-season release of the 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Watch List. The Wallace Award is presented annually to the nation’s top collegiate baseball player in conjunction with the College Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The 2009 award banquet will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 2, in the United Spirit Arena on the campus of Texas Tech University.

The Wallace Award is dedicated to the memory of former Texas Tech player and assistant coach Brooks Wallace. Wallace was a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977 to 1980. A four-year starter, he was named All-Southwest Conference and All-District his senior year. He led the Red Raiders to their first-ever appearance in the Southwest Conference Tournament in 1980.

Miller, a senior who was a co-captain last season, resides from Dayton, Va. and attended Turner Ashby H.S. Miller is coming off of a season in which the Buckeyes most dominant slugger, leading the team in several offensive categories. His .395 batting average, 79 hits, 16 doubles, 4 home runs, 107 total bases, 61 RBI, a .535 slugging percentage, and 8 sacrafice flies, led the team, while his average, doubles, and RBI total tied for 5th in the Big Ten in each category.
