Despite the 3-0 start, the Buckeyes are not getting any mention in the four major college baseball polls. For the discussion on this web site, the four major polls are NCBWA (Top 30), Collegiate Baseball (Top 30), Baseball America (Top 25) and the USA Today/Coaches (Top 25). For Ohio State to start getting any consideration in the polls a strong showing this weekend at the Dominos Pizza Classic is a must.
None of the teams the Buckeyes play this weekend are in any Top 25, but Texas A&M is ranked 27th by the NCBWA poll and 28th by Collegiate Baseball. Both Louisiana Tech and Arkansas are receiving votes in the writers’ poll. The Razorbacks are 30th by Collegiate Baseball. But forget poll placement, a strong showing in Texas also could pay dividends come selection time for the NCAA tournament.

Nice opening weekend for the Bucks.I like the National start date for college ball. Just wanted to know if anyone knew about Jake Hale.I thought he would pitch this past sunday. Is he injured? Go bucks, Big weekend @ Texas A & M
Go Bucks
I heard Jake has tendinitis in his elbow and he is resting it the first two weeks of the season. He should be back next weekend when the team is in West Palm Beach. I do know the team plans to use him as a starter this year rather than as the closer like he did most of last season. I'm not sure where the coaches plan to use him in the rotation.
Cool! I really like the site, Todd. Yeah, i like Jake as a starter, too. He pitched very well as a starter, last year. That game vs. Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament was great last year.He has Major League potential. Too bad he is not ready this weekend. I really like our weekend starters: DeLucia, Shuck and Hale. I think in the next couple weeks, we will find that 4th weekend starter.
